Nucleus Expo & Digital announce Keynote Speakers
Some of the world’s leading tech innovators have been announced in the first wave of speakers heading for Wales’ Digital Fest on 18th-19th September, 2017.
Sponsored by Welsh fintech pioneer GoCompare, Digital takes place across 13 shipping containers on Pendyris Street’s Tramshed Tech. Speakers include Computer Weekly hall-of-famer Jacqueline de Rojas, the President of TechUK and a Brexit adviser, who will advise on the talent and skills landscape today – and in the future if the UK is to evolve into a digital nation of significance.
Also addressing over 2,000 delegates are former Dragon’s Den star Rachel Elnaugh – who will describe and advise on the rollercoaster life of the entrepreneur, Inma Martinez – an AI pioneer and smart cities expert, and insurance and FinTech entrepreneur George Berkowski – Chief Product Officer at GoCompare and a man who has built and sold businesses in manned space flight, Augmented Reality, online dating, and transportation.
Away from Digital’s main stage, the Nucleus start-up zone, new for 2017, is a dedicated space where fresh business talent can exhibit their tech, meet investors, and tell their stories from a stage that’s set in a cinema.
As well as a series of roundtable discussions, panel events, exhibitions and workshops, Nucleus Expo will have its own keynote speakers, including:
– Geoff Baker, President Elect of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
A Chartered Engineer, entrepreneur and co-founder of both Plant Asset Management & ATL, Geoff will run down his experience of creating innovative companies and their subsequent acquisition in to large corporations and whether entrepreneurial behaviours can really thrive in this environment.
– Darren Mulvihill, Senior Equity Fundraising Manager at Crowdcube
Darren works with entrepreneurs who are looking to use the world’s first and leading investment crowdfunding platform to raise investment for their businesses, enabling them to get the most out of the process. Darren will speak about the numerous CrowdCube success stories, and how their team identifies, sources and funds exciting growth businesses and how they critique and evaluate the investment potential of these businesses.
– Ben Hayes, Chief Marketing Officer at Startupbootcamp IOT
Ben works with ‘Internet of Things’ and hardware start-ups on their brand, communication strategy and category design, with the aim of getting them to the market quicker and helping them secure follow-on funding from investors. Ben will talk about trends in IoT: what investors are looking for, how to build an IoT/hardware start-up, and what lessons he and his team have learnt through Startupbootcamp IoT.
– Steve May-Russell, National Chairman at BIDA and Managing Director of Smallfry
An innovation strategist and industrial designer, Steve will talk about his business, the funding landscape, the state of design education – and how companies can optimise their innovation focus for growth.
